Getting to London

It was a good flight but it was very squishy.  I enjoyed the movies, I watched Battle of Los Angeles, Kung fu Panda 2, Paul, and some of HOP. We flew from Wellington to Auckland, then Auckland to LA, then LA to London.  The flight in total was 23 hours.

When we got to London, we did a bit of sightseeing with our friends Katrina and Kelvin. We drove over Tower Bridge and saw the tower of London. I counted 15 Porshes, 2 Aston Martin,  and a Ferarri plus lots of BMW's, and mercedes.

Yeah, I'm in London.

We had a great trip. The flight to LA was half empty so we managed to wangle a third Sky couch and all got some good sleep. We transited through LA, which was pretty painless - less than 2 hours. The flight from LA to heathrow was chocka, so we were all squashed up for that leg and although the kids slept pretty well, Warren and I didn't get much sleep on the second part of the journey.

The most painfully slow and frustrating part of the journey was the hour wait to get through UK immigration. stiil undecided if it would have been better to splash out the $1000 to update all our UK passports to avoid this!

It was great to see the Smiths at Heathrow, so fantastic to be met and not have to find our way across town. We had a bit of a scenic tour on the way back to Canary Warf and crossed Tower Bridge and saw the tower. We had showers and revived ourselves and took the DLR to the park for ice creams and Vitamin D. Barbie for tea, Heléna and Bridie are bonded at the hip and tried to share a bed tonight, so they're going to have a great week.

Right, we're all kanckered now, the kids are all superstars, they did a great job today and have coped really well. We're all pretty worn out though and should sleep well tonight, ready to hit the ground running in the morning!
